The Start and Journey of Mukisa Missions
The year was 2012, there was a missions trip going to Uganda from America, I decided to join this adventure along with my 10 year old son. The trip was only for two weeks but God prompted us to go. At the end of our trip, both my son and I were crying. We didn’t want to leave and go home. How ridiculous! Why on earth would I cry? Why wouldn’t I want to go home? It was a heart wrenching tug from God that was on our hearts. We went back to America and God wanted me to come back to Uganda. Why? This is craziness. I argued with God (like Jonah) I tried to run away and deny God. Why would I go back? I know no one or nothing about Uganda, their culture, people, laws. No! No way I am not going! But God being God – He won.
I came here with my son in 2014 for 3- 6 months to see what God wanted me to do. Today, 8 years later, I am still here. I still did not know what it was that God wanted me to do in Uganda. Then our true journey began. It started with my first child, she came to me severely malnourished, her organs were starting to shut down, she had pneumonia. We spent sleepless nights checking to see if she was still breathing, bringing down her fevers, feeding her little bits at a time, monitoring her heart beat, spending days and nights at the hospitals in the city. She recovered and is now a healthy, happy, stubborn almost ten year old. God is great. From there it was known by the community what God had done through me for his littlest lamb. I was given one severely malnourished child after another. At that time I still did not know what it was that God wanted me to do. I think I was at child number 11 when it hit me. God sent me here to save His littlest lambs!!! My son stayed with me and helped with everything from the age of 12 until he was 18 years old. He went back to our home country and every day the children and I miss him so! We pray that he will return to further serve the Lord along side us one day!
